The princes of Machu Picchu: 2 - 5 players, playing time 90 - 120 minutes
Author: Mac Gerdts
The proud empire of the Incas was subjugated by the gold-hungry Spaniards. Only a small group of Inca princes could flee to the mountains. In Machu Picchu, a hidden city in the Andes, they peacefully built a new community with their families, priests and sun virgins. But beware: the Spaniards are near and on the verge of finding Machu Picchu! The Incas have to summon all their priests and sun virgins to get the help of the sun god Tayta Inti. Otherwise, the Spanish will invade the city on the last night in search of the one who can give them the most gold, and a very special element of the game is the alternative victory condition. The players can either try to get as many points as possible for the Inca victory, or they bet on the victory of the Spaniards and put aside as much gold as possible for this. Depending on their interests, they try to influence the outcome of the game. Because it is often not clear until shortly before the end of the game which side will win, this gives the game a very special tension.
The equipment of "Machu Picchu" is rich. In addition to a large game board there are, among other things, over 200 wooden pieces, of which the game pieces for llama, coca, ceramics and cloth are each individually shaped.
